Route optimisation technology delivers measurable efficiency gains, reducing kilometres driven while improving planning and delivery performance
PTV Logistics, a global leader in logistics decision intelligence, partnered with HelloFresh ANZ to optimise its delivery routing across Australia and New Zealand, deploying advanced route optimisation technology across one of the region’s fastest-growing home delivery networks.
The meal-kit company has integrated PTV OptiFlow, PTV Logistics’ route optimisation software, into its planning and distribution systems. Since implementation, HelloFresh ANZ has recorded up to a 4% reduction in kilometres driven and operational costs, reducing manual route adjustments and improving on-time delivery performance across metropolitan and regional areas.
As HelloFresh ANZ’s delivery footprint expanded across both countries, the company looked for a solution that could account for real-time traffic conditions, delivery windows, customer density, and vehicle constraints to improve routing accuracy, maintain strong performance and reduce cost.
PTV OptiFlow’s dynamic routing engine continuously recalculates delivery routes at scale, adapting in real time as conditions evolve throughout the day
“Since implementing PTV OptiFlow, we’ve seen a significant reduction in planning time. Our planners spend far less time making manual route adjustments, and we’ve observed measurable improvements in delivery reliability. These efficiencies allow us to maintain competitive delivery pricing for our customers, even as fuel and labour costs fluctuate,” said Tony Tannous, Director of Operations at HelloFresh ANZ.
Jasper van Dooijeweert, Associate Director of Transport Planning at HelloFresh, said the value came from the implementation work. “PTV Logistics acted as much more than a software vendor; they were a true partner. By working closely with their consultants during the implementation phase, we were able to move beyond simple A-to-B routing. This allowed us to integrate real-time traffic data and local routing constraints, resulting in a more resilient delivery network that consistently meets our high service standards.”
The end-to-end routing optimisation PTV Logistics platform is fully integrated into HelloFresh ANZ’s planning and distribution systems, delivering stable performance through peak and seasonal demand fluctuations.
“HelloFresh ANZ operates one of the most demanding last-mile delivery networks in the region, and the results show what using technology for routing can do at that scale. We’re focused on helping them keep that performance steady as the network keeps growing,” said Kamil Duracka, Vice President International Business, PTV Logistics.
The two companies are rolling out the solution in phases to avoid disrupting daily operations, align data sources, configure routing models, test real-world delivery scenarios, and train planning teams across both markets. Each phase is used to fine-tune performance.
