Cardinal Logistics’ 115,000-pallet Drury facility delivers a 400% lift in order-processing speed and accuracy
New Zealand now has its first fully automated third-party logistics warehouse. Cardinal Logistics, a Kiwi-owned Food & Grocery 3PL serving 45 customers, has opened its ‘Perfect Pallet’ facility at Drury in South Auckland — 115,000 pallets, goods-to-person picking, materials handling by Daifuku Oceania, and Interlogic’s MultiPick® WMS orchestrating the whole operation.
The result: a 400% increase in order-processing speed and accuracy.
Rather than being handed a finished building, Interlogic was brought in at the design phase, working alongside the equipment engineers and Cardinal’s own staff.
“Interlogic are a deep and intimate partner — guys that are prepared to jump on the trucks, jump in the forklifts, and walk with us alongside the robots so they walk in our shoes,” said Brendon Furness, CEO, Cardinal Logistics.
For Furness, the biggest return isn’t on the spreadsheet.
“There’s a huge OH&S risk — automation takes that out of the game,” added Furness. “And there’s a mental-health factor in dealing with an intra-day crisis. It was a real circuit breaker for us.”
